Search Warrant Executed At Wilson’s Mills Business

WILSON’S MILLS – On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Wilson’s Mills Police Department executed a search warrant at Wilson’s Mills Variety Store, located at 4530 Wilson’s Mills Road.

The search was the culmination of an investigation by the Wilson’s Mills Police Department, with assistance from the NC State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), NC Secretary of State, and NC Department of Revenue, Police Chief A.Z. Williams said.

Ethan R. Mitchell, age 29, of Louisburg, NC was arrested and charged with eight counts of sell/deliver marijuana to an undercover officer, one count of manufacturing with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance within 1000 feet from a school, and a misdemeanor trademark violation.

Seized during the search of the business 2.4 pounds of suspected THC/marijuana, 177 dosages of suspected marijuana wax and multiple other related items.

“The corner store has long been a source of community complaints due to the type of merchandise it sells and the traffic it brings to town. Hopefully, Friday’s enforcement action will be a clear indication that this type of activity is not welcome in Wilson’s Mills,” Chief Williams told The Johnston County Report.

Mitchell was held under $150,000 secured bond in the Johnston County Detention Center.

Additional charges may be forthcoming.

  1. Same song and dance 100 times, cops raid smokeshop, take products 100% legal under state law, then all charges are magically dropped a week later.

  2. Meanwhile it’s legal in half of the country, and yet here we are busting people for a plant that is natural and has so much potential to help people with ptsd and all kinds of other medical issues, but pills and opioids are legal and addicting and killing people all over the place. You got it all wrong sadly.

    • Agree! State will sale alcohol that kill people every day and I don’t know this for a fact but I don’t know anyone that died from smoking weed. Make it legal to sale and the tax revenue the state could make on it would be a big help for our economy!

  3. One of my High School Classmates mother was prescribed a medication that helped her to eat and it contained Marijuana in it. Maybe not all but this God made plant is being used in the medical field.
But if it’s not legal here, people get busted. Maybe he didn’t understand the law! 😆

  4. Delta-9 and Delta-8 are legal if the delta-9 THC concentration is not more than 0.3% on a dry weight basis. This aligns North Carolina’s law with the 2018 Federal Farm Bill which legalized hemp and its derivatives under this 0.3% Delta-9 THC threshold.

What am I missing? When did local law enforcement obtain the necessary equipment to properly test the THC concentration of “suspected marijuana”?
