Fire Destroys One Home, Damages Another

HARNETT COUNTY – A home at 610 Tilghman Road was destroyed by flames on Monday. A second home was also damaged.
Around 11:51 a.m., Dunn, Coats, and Benson fire crews responded to the scene. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the two story house.

Within minutes the fire had spread to a second house.
Additional fire units from Erwin, Elevation, West Johnston, 50-210 and Buies Creek were dispatched.

About thirty minutes after the fire started, the roof collapsed on the first home.
The fires were eventually brought under control as crews battled hot afternoon temperatures.

Three adults were displaced from the first home and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The occupants in the second home had damage but did not require help from the Red Cross.

The Harnett County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
